Facade sandwich elements are made up of two covering layers, for example glass or metal plates, and VIPs are installed in between these. The corners of VIPs wrapped in aluminium. The spacer should be chosen carefully in order to avoid thermal bridges.
Thermally optimized spacers combined with VIPs wrapped with metallized high-barrier film create minimized thermal bridges, while conventional spacers combined with VIPs wrapped in aluminum composite film create more thermal bridges.
