va-Q-vip B and va-Q-plus B are high performance thermal insulation systems, which consist of a loadbearing porous core material, surrounded by a high barrier film. va-Q-vip B are generally certified for building application under the No. Z-23.11-1658. Their inflammation of film is in accordance with the building material class DIN 4102-B2. Vacuum insulation panels are to be treated carefully in general. During the application of va-Q-vip B and va-Q-plus B the following items have to be considered:

1. The vacuum insulation panels should be checked by visual inspection or by va-Q-check efore the installation. The high barrier film must enclose the core material tightly.
2. The internal gas pressure ought to be below 5 mbar.
3. The vacuum insulation panels may not be damaged mechanically by sawing, cutting or drilling and so on.
4. The substrate for the installation of VIPs must be even and must not have rough surface.
5. The vacuum insulation panels have not to be stored under very high temperature and high humidity conditions. In particular, avoid storage in a place, in which humidity is over 60% and over 50 °C temperature, permanently.
6. For vacuum insulation panels mechanical load like a punctual pressure should be avoided. Please also avoid shear or tear forces on the film.
7. For gluing, please use polyurethane adhesive or a soft hot melt. Also a foaming with PU-foam is possible. In all cases please avoid temperatures above 100 °C. A pressure test is advisable and necessary in particular cases.
8. It is to be noted that the thermal bridge can be measured with VIP constructions higher than with a conventional insulation construction, if the VIPs are not installed carefully.
9. For the humidity protection of vacuum insulation panels a water vapour proof film has to be used by installation. The water vapour proof film prevents accumulating humidity from the direct environment of the VIPs.
10. Before the installation of vacuum insulation panels, the person, who handles the VIP, has to be trained. The application recommendations have to be transferred to each particular case. 
11. The whole insulation construction system with vacuum insulation panels have to perform mechanically well and satisfactory even if a VIP is broken or ventilated in order to have no technical problems with a construction.
