Quality Control Policy

Vacuum insulation panels (VIPs) have become an important component for increasing energy efficiency in many areas. The performance of VIPs depends essentially on the components used in their production. va-Q-tec has therefore concentrated on installing a very reliable and thorough quality control system for VIP production, which includes the testing of all incoming materials such as cores and films.

The quality of VIPs depends on the core material, the barrier film and the internal gas pressure. The internal gas pressure is very important for the insulating performance. Many VIP manufacturers frequently fail to pay sufficient attention to this fact. At va-Q-tec, every individual VIP is tested for its gas pressure.

Therefore, va-Q-tec’s VIP quality criteria are probably the strictest compared to any other VIP manufacturer in the world. They do comply with the requirements of any of our customers' quality management systems, e.g. Six Sigma.

The initial internal gas pressure is not the only element that ensures VIP quality. The combination of strict material control and rigid VIP quality policy guarantees the long and reliable service life of our VIPs. The selection and quality control of cores as well as barrier films and their optimized combination are further reasons for the unique product quality of va-Q-tec.

Usually ca. 90% of the occurring VIP failures are not visible, i.e. if VIP has defect, most likely you will not be able to see it. These invisible defects are mostly micro leakages or pinholes caused by the manufacturing or handling process. Only ca. 10% of the defects result in an inflated panel, which is easy to recognize because the film is not tightly pressed onto the panel core any more.

va-Q-tec makes the difference!
va-Q-tec uses the unique "va-Q-check" quality check system within the production processes to reduce the VIP failure rate significantly. Especially the "invisible" defects are very safely detected and eliminated. Before delivery every single VIP is checked with the va-Q-check device. All quality relevant VIP data are stored in a databank.

The va-Q-tec staff also offer support to customers installing va-Q-check equipment and methods in their factory for in-house quality control during the application of VIPs.
