va-Q-vip : High thermal insulation panel with long life time

 
 

 

 
 

1. Characteristics

va-Q-vip is an evacuated microporous thermal insulating panel with extremely low thermal conductivity, i.e. excellent insulating properties. The core of va-Q-vip comprises up to 80 % fumed silica and the rest IR opacifiers and a small amount of organic fibers. The core material is inflammable. It is sealed in a high gas barrier film under vacuum. The high gas barrier film ensures that the va-Q-vip contains the necessary vacuum level for many years.

In general we produce rectangular panels. Other shapes are possible on demand. Due to the special folding technique va-Q-vip have rectangular edges without flanges. Thus the panels can be put together almost without any gap.

2. Applications

va-Q-vip was specially developed for insulation applications where not much space is available but a high thermal resistance is necessary. Even a damaged, air filled panel limits the thermal conductivity to a value of 0.020 W/mK, which is a factor of two lower compared to a conventional insulation. With these functions va-Q-vip is very suitable for:

• Logistics (thermal packaging application, container …)
• Appliances (refrigerator und freezer)
• All purpose VIP (in Germany: not certified for buildings, please use va-Q-vip B)

3. Advantage of va-Q-vip
