Façade sandwich elements are made up of two covering layers e.g. glass or metal plates and VIPs are installed in between them. A VIP covering is limited with a spacer at edge. The spacer should be chosen carefully in order to avoid thermal bridges.
Thermally optimized spacers combined with VIPs wrapped with metallized high-barrier film create minimized thermal bridges, while conventional spacers combined with VIPs wrapped with aluminum composite film create strong thermal bridges.
