va-Q-tec containers use passive technology. This means that there are no batteries, heating elements or fans that can be damaged, run flat or burn out. Our passive thermal container system includes vacuum insulation panels (VIP, named va-Q-vip) and heat & cool storage elements (containing PCM, called va-Q-accu). The VIPs provide excellent thermal insulation, which protects the goods from extreme ambient temperatures. Phase change materials (PCMs) have a high capacity for heat and cool storage and stabilise the internal temperature of the container. The va-Q-check is a system – unique to va-Q-tec – that can guarantee the integrity of all VIPs in a container, which is vital to ensure compliance with the qualified performance.
Passive Technology
What is va-Q-vip?
va-Q-vip is a thermal insulating panel which is five to ten times thinner than conventional insulation material while having the same insulating performance. They have a thermal conductivity of 0.004 W/(m²K) and an extrapolated service life of 50 years.
What is va-Q-accu?
va-Q-accu is a heat storage plate containing phase change materials (PCM) which is a substance with a high heat of fusion which, melting and solidifying at a certain temperature, is capable of storing and releasing large amounts of energy. Heat entering the container is absorbed or released resulting in a shipment at the desired temperature.
The result: va-Q-tainer
va-Q-tainer containers include va-Q-vips and va-Q-accus within a durable shell. As va-Q-tainer containers are completely passive transport containers, they are extremely reliable and make deviation free transportation possible. With minimal thermal and mechanical risks, va-Q-tainer containers will keep your products safe.
