Offical Approval from DIBT

Approval of va-Q-vip B for building applications

The vacuum insulation panel va-Q-vip B wrapped in black glass fabric, has been approved for general construction purposes in accordance with the decisions of 21st June 2007 and 24th July 2008, approval number Z-23.11-1658, of the “Deutsches Institut für Bautechnik (DIBT)”. By the decision of 1st July  2010, the validity of the approval was extended until 30th June 2015.

The measured value for the thermal conductivity of va-Q-vip B was assgined as 0.008 W/mK. This value already includes compensation for aging and edge losses.

Equally important for the very good assessment of the va-Q-tec products from the very beginning is the sophisticated quality system of va-Q-tec, which is unique throughout the world, in which precision onsite control is offered during installation by va-Q-tec and installation partners.

The vacuum insulation panel “va-Q-vip B” fulfils the requirements of construction materials class B2 according to DIN 4102-1. The application areas according to the standard DIN 4108-10 include internal ceilings and walls, floors, flat roofs, top floor ceilings, exterior insulation behind paneling, insulation in wood frame construction.

The certificate of comformity issued by the “Forschungsinstitut für Wärmeschutz e.V. (FIW)” Munich on 14th January  2008 confirms that va-Q-vip B, following the results of the internal works production controls and the external monitoring by the FIW, complies with the requirements of general building approval. va-Q-tec is therefore entitled to designate the construction product va-Q-vip B with the Ü-symbol.

Complemented by the practical experience of our partner businesses in planning and installation, constructions complying with the approval are now possible using these vacuum insulation panels.

Tests for the approval procedure

  • Initial measurement of thermal conductivity on VIPs of thicknesses 10, 20 and 40 mm
  • Climatic change testing +80 °C / -15 °C with 8 cycles of 24h
  • Followed by 90 days storage at 80 °C
  • Intermediate measurement of the thermal conductivity
  • Again 90 days storage at 80 °C
  • Measurement of the thermal conductivity in the aged condition after six months temperature storage
  • Fire resistance according to DIN 4102-1
  • Compressive strength according to DIN EN 826
  • Calculation of thermal bridge effects
